Are you new? If not, list your current characters: Nope! I play Venom, from The Amazing Spider-Man
IC Information:
Name: Thor Odinson
Fandom: The Avengers(MCU)
Canon link
Timeline: Post-movie. (shawaaarmaaa)
Age: Unknown. A few centuries.
Appearance: Tall, rugged, and quite handsome, Thor is a broad man. He is strong and heavily muscled, sporting long, rather unkempt blond hair. He keeps his beard well trimmed, and his impressive healing factor is likely the reason he has no noticeable scars, despite his fighting lifestyle.
Sexy and he knows it.
Abilities: Super strength, speed, endurance, reflexes, regenerative healing factor, near-invulnerability, and ‘immortality’ (can be killed but won’t die from disease/they live a crazy long time).
With Mjolnir, his hammer, Thor can summon elements of the storm such as rain, crazy winds, and of course, lightning. He was able to summon a tornado that could literally pick up his foes. Mjolnir also grants Thor the ability to fly at crazy speeds…by literally being thrown while Thor holds on tight. No one but the worthy can wield Mjolnir. It is impossibly heavy, otherwise, and cannot be budged by any means. Thor handles the hammer with ease, and can even summon it to him from anyyyywhere by simply holding out a hand. It’s like the best boomerang hammer a guy could ask for.
Personality: As the crown prince of Asgard, Thor is only beginning to understand what it means to be king. He was once brash and impetuous, living for glory and lashing out without any thought of the consequences of his actions. After he was banished to Midgard (Earth) and stripped of all his power, Thor learned what it meant to truly care for others, and how his own wants and desires had to be second to the greater good. He sacrificed his own life to try and protect Midgard and his friends without hesitation, and later destroyed (what he thought was) his only chance at getting to see the woman he loved in order to protect the nine realms.
As a result, the Asgardian seems more grounded and humble these days, pausing to think and reflect upon his actions, and how they could potentially affect everyone around him. Strangers are generally greeted with warmth and courtesy, though he is not afraid to demand things. Being raised as a ruler—and as an Asgardian--he does have something of a superiority complex, and has referred to ‘you Midgardians’ in a way that was condescending and dismissive. Still, Thor is a fairly easy-going man, and unless you are deliberately trying to be rude, you’ll probably get along. He is friendly, charming, and knows how to be a gentleman. Women are treated with respect. His mother, and his close friend, Sif, have proven to him time and time again that women can be strong, powerful, and should never be underestimated. All the more reason to treat them well!
Back to that whole trying-to-rile-him-up thing. Thor does have a temper. He is competitive, to boot, and doesn’t back down easily from a challenge. He is used to leading men and women to battle, and if someone insults him or questions his decisions… well, the instinctive urge is to display his authority and knock some sense into the offender. He has no issues with going head to head with Tony Stark after he quite literally ripped Loki out of an airborne plane, believing that his brother’s punishment was something that should be dealt with in Asgard, not on Earth.
Loki is Thor’s weak spot. He blames himself for Loki’s trouble, knowing that he ignored his brother and that Loki felt as though he was always standing within Thor’s shadow. He still blames himself for Loki being sucked away into the wormhole caused by the Bifrost bridge’s energy, even though Loki willingly let go. He feels as though, perhaps, if his brother did not resent him so, things could have been different. He wants to make amends with Loki, but with how strained their relationship is; only time will tell.
It is hard to say how well Thor gets along with his fellow Avengers. Out of all of them, it is clear that he is the most isolated, due to being part of a whole different race. He does not know much of Midgard even after his banishment, so it is difficult to connect. He and Tony got off to a very rough start, and even now, Tony reminds Thor of his brother. He is clever and silver-tongued, and Thor is instinctively inclined not to trust him. Steve Rogers earned Thor’s respect by managing to deflect Mjolnir’s blow with nothing but his shield, and Thor sees him as a strong, capable leader. Bruce Banner knows things that Thor can’t even wrap his head around—but it’s his counterpart, the Hulk, that Thor is more interested in. He sees the Hulk as a worthy opponent, and they seem to have a grudging respect for one another (seeing as the Hulk only punches Thor into oblivion instead of smashing him up like Loki… ). Thor does not interact much with Clint or Natasha, but I would imagine he feels poorly that the former was used by his brother, and is highly impressed with Nat for being able to outfox Loki.
Though Thor has tempered some of his more brash impulses, he is still a warrior at heart. He loves the thrill of battle, and is rumored to be one of the physically strongest Asgardians there is. He is also a loyal friend, and has absolutely no issue laying his life down to protect those he loves and cares about. Unfortunately, this also means that he fully expects his friends to have his back. Loki easily manipulated Thor into believing his father was dead. Thor saw no reason that Loki would lie to him, and when he realized that he had been betrayed, he swore to… well, probably do some ugly things to Loki.
Even now, I do not believe Thor would have it in him to take Loki out for good, even after all that he has done. Loki is still his brother, adopted or not, and Thor wants to believe in him, wants to believe that he can redeem himself and abandon his destructive ideals. Family and friends are something that Thor holds very dear to his heart, and having to strike down one of them, I believe, would shatter something inside him. If he did do it, it would be something he would grieve over for a very, very long time. He is expendable. They are not.
Overall, Thor is a man that lives in the moment. Though his time on Earth did help temper his emotions, whatever he feels is openly and honestly expressed without any sort of shame. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and really, the only thing he seems to dwell on is his regret with Loki. If Thor is affected by something, his words and actions reflect it almost immediately. It seems to be common on Asgard to openly express one’s feelings, and, indeed, Thor does not even hesitate to cry when he is told that his father is dead.
History: Thor and his brother, Loki, were raised in an environment that could be described as both perfect and loving. His father and mother cared deeply for both boys, and Loki was one of his closest companions, though they were both heirs for the throne.
Roleplay Sample - Log: It was a mystery to Thor. Midgardians managed to create so many different flavors with their foods, yet, in Asgard, everything had a particular… flavor to it. They did not have dinners, but feasts, filled with all sorts of meats and savory foods. This… shawarma stuff, however, had spices that Thor had never tasted before. It was delicious, and Thor was already on his fourth plate of the stuff. The entire table was silent—undoubtedly exhausted. It had been a hard battle, but a good one, and Thor could not have been more proud. They had managed to save Midgard, put an end to Loki’s mischief, and though damage had been wrought upon the city, it could have been much worse.
Thor’s eyes lingered on each of his teammates, thoughtful and weary. Steve Rogers seemed to be asleep, his fist propped against his cheek. At first glance, it seemed that Clint Barton was also asleep—but no, it seemed he was studying something in his lap. Natasha Romanova and Bruce Banner were also enjoying their shawarma, which was something that Thor could only approve of. In fact, if Steve was not careful, Thor might help himself to the rest of his plate. Food this good should not be left to waste.
And then, there was Tony Stark. Even now, Thor was still uncertain of where the man stood. He was arrogant and brash, seeming to cause conflict for conflict’s sake. And yet, Thor could not deny the truth of what he said. It was a gift that both he and Loki seemed to possess, a cunning that rolled right off the tongue.
Still. When the time had come, the man had risked his life without question. He had been fully prepared to die to save his world, and for that, Thor held a deep, unshakeable respect. If Tony happened to glance his way, the Asgardian would only nod, his lips quirked, before he returned to his shawarma.
To leave this realm always brought a certain sort of sadness to him. If only there were a way to travel more easily between Midgard and home. Perhaps now with the Tesseract…
Thor took another enormous bite of the shawarma, and all thoughts and plans temporarily dissolved in the deliciousness of it all. Yes, he would have to see about bringing home this recipe to Asgard...
Roleplay Sample - Journal: (Written in first person, IC, as though it were a journal entry.)
This game includes horrible mental and physical torture of your character. After reading the rules/faq for clarification, how do you expect your character to handle this and continue to function? Thor is probably going to get angry, and then use that anger as a way to try and fuel his continued fight. With Sif, Loki, and Tony Stark present in the facility, he has good reason to try and protect them. If he gives up, he can't guarantee he'll know that they all make it out okay, and Thor's loyalty and sense of honor prohibit any sort of giving up or moping in despair. For now.
